[EventCalendar] what is code for time schedule of event? (was 'how to get event dates to appear on archive page')

Excuse me for replying to myself... I'd like to bump this into August
and slightly rephrase my question in hopes of getting a reply.

On my sidebar, I have a link to the events category. When one hits the
link, a page comes up with titles of the various upcoming events. This
is the coding on the archive page:

------------------------------
<a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>"><?php the_title(); ?></a>
<small>(<?php the_date(); ?>)</small>
---------------------------------------
And it produces the following:

.......................
Title of the Event Post (posted: Date that the Event was posted)
.......................

What I would like instead is:

...................
Title of the Event Post - Date of the Event (posted: Date that the
Event was posted)
........................

This shouldn't screw up any of the archives for non event posts
because I'm guessing they'll ignore the php coding for the time
schedule and they will just show
...................
Title of Regular Post - (posted: Date that Regular Post was posted)
........................

So how should I alter the following coding on my archive page to
achieve the desired effect?

.................................
<a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>"><?php the_title(); ?></a>
<small>- <?php NO_IDEA_WHAT_GOES_HERE(); ?> (<?php the_date();
?>)</small>
...........................

Thank you.

P.S. Still running WP2.0.2 with Event Calendar 3.1._pre11
