Hi, fine folks!

this morning I posted a plea for help on my blog, which Alex answered to
(many thanks):

http://climbtothestars.org/archives/2007/02/26/events-in-wordpress/
(contains details of my situation and problems and partial solutions)

The following page http://dev.vibrations.ch/?ec3_after=today&cat=18
does all I need, but it does have an ugly url. (I'd like that URL to be
/agenda/france )

I've tried mod_rewrite, adding the following before the WP stuff:

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^/somethingpretty/?$ /?ec3_after=today&cat=18 </IfModule>

it doesn't work (I get a wordpress 404). Does anybody see how to fix it?

My other option is to create a WP Page and give it a custom template.
I'm unfortunately using a somewhat hacked version of the K2 theme, so
this is not totally straightforward. I've figured out I need to stick
query_posts('ec3_after=today&cat=18') somewhere, but I'm not quite sure
where in the loop, and I'm not quite sure what this does. And there's
the added trickiness of trying to display blog posts on a Page.

Thanks for any help you can bring me!

Steph aka bunny

I'm on a host with nasty memory limits (don't ask, don't suggest, not
in my power) and since I've installed rc1 the following happens when I
try go to Manage in wp-admin:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to
allocate 50 bytes) in
/home/www/6c5b0bdcc37f484a0d25fe34a900e386/web/dev/wp-content/plugins/ev
entcalendar3/eventcalendar3.php
on line 54

Line 54 says

$posts[$i]->ec3_schedule=array();

which is somewhat chinese for me, and the reason it would interfere
with listing my existing posts is beyond me.

Suggestions? Bug?

One suggestion - try disabling any non-vital plugins you are using to
free up some memory.

Thanks for the idea, but I'm afraid that at this stage they are all
vital, and there are even more to come :-(

mod_rewrite is your best option (if you can get it to work).

Look at Wordpress' own rewrite rules and try to copy the form of them
from there. On my system, the pattern doesn't start with a '/', and the
replacement contains the 'index.php'. Perhaps you need something like
this...
   RewriteRule ^somethingpretty/?$ /index.php?ec3_after=today&cat=18

How many posts does your site have? 8MB ought to be enough for anyone.

There's nothing special about that line, it's just making an empty
array to store the event times.

Something is using up all of your memory, but it's probably
(hopefully?) not EC. Try turning off other plug-ins and see if that
makes a difference (just for testing, not permanently).

The admin screen probably gets ALL of your posts rather than just 10 at

a time. It's loading more in, so that's why it's running out of memory.

> Suggestions? Bug?

It's a nasty problem. I really don't think EC is to blame. Perhaps you
could ask about memory problems over on the WP forum.

I tried deactivating all my plugins one after another (easily done,
there are only about half a dozen) and the one that made a difference
was... EC, I'm afraid.

Indeed. Admin screen is showing way more than 15 posts, probably 70 or
so. Will bug the people in #wordpress with that problem.

Thanks for helping me narrow it down!

I'm afraid I still think this is EC's "fault". If I access my post
through the "Manage Categories" page, I don't get an error when I try
to view 30-40 events in one go (subcategories), but I do get the error
when I try to view 70 (the whole event category).

I unfortunately don't have another category with 70 posts in it to
double-check, but the error does say it's complaining about something
that happens inside the EC plugin...

I can give you access to the install if you think it can help.
