[EventCalendar] Issue with advanced queries and post order

That shouldn't be necessary. It may be your theme, or it may be a bug.

Try the default theme, then try it with the latest development version  
of EC:
  http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/event-calendar.zip

The event ordering is much more stable in the new version.
