[EventCalendar] Just can't get the big calendar to display... details follow.

Not to mention that the wordpress codex codex.wordpress.org has probably the most info on customizing wordpress itself. A quick search there usually gets me the info I need regarding the wordpress specific template tags etc.

well, there's this, it's out of date but useful

http://needforcontent.com/wordpress-template-tutorial/

I like this one

http://urbangiraffe.com/2005/04/12/themeguide1/

and there's always

http://mattread.com/archives/2005/04/wordpress-is-not-php/

which is also old but still utterly true...

You might want to start with the 3rd one.

Back in the 80's (I graduated from high school in '83) I was known as a 'prayer programmer.' Basically never printed anything out... just made adjustments to the code ('Basic and Fortran' back then) and then 'prayed' that it would work. Usually didn't.

When I get home tonight I will restore the template php file that I hacked (to pieces) and then make the same adjustment, only a little more strategically. Thanks sincerely for your help and for being a sounding board so that I could reason my way through part of it.

Is there a good resource for someone like me to quickly learn the ins and outs of this more sophisticated version of html coding than I am accustomed to? Like how template files work and how to create and modify them intelligently?

  Sincere thanks.

  Mike.

uhmmm yeah. Looking back at the first email, where's your "get content" ?

  somthing like: <?php the_content('<p class="serif">Read the rest of this page &raquo;</p>'); ?>

you don't appear to have a "the_content" call anywhere in the template you posted.

  Oooooops

I've done that but (and here's where I remind you that I'm a complete newbie hack) nothing at all is showing up in the calendar page in my browser.

Did I do something to the template to screw up the way the page is displayed? I deleted what I though I didn't need, including the call to the sidebar and some other stuff.

Mike, put "Calendar should go here" above or below the bigcal call so that we can see...

as a matter of fact, something above AND below it would be nice...

    Thanks

....per earlier string of same name, where Rick Boatright asked...

"What version of WP?" Version 2.7

"What version of EC3?" Version 3.2.beta2

"Could you turn on the bad page?" It is turned on and viewable by clicking 'Calendar' on the top bar.

      Thanks again for your help.
