Thanks for your replay.

If I upgrade to the latest version, will I lost all the old events? I notice that the data storage structure is different for the new version. 

If I stick with this 3.1.0, if there any way I can fix the privileges thing? 

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Have you tried upgrading to the latest stable version of Event
Calendar ?  There was a bug regarding privileges but I think it was
worked out.
