[EventCalendar] Listing events both on homepage and by event date

I couldn't manage this for the life of me, hence my long-winded method to
extract the event date and add it to the post as a custom field, then do a
manual query. Bit of a pain, but it's the only way I've managed to do it :)

Subject: [EventCalendar] Listing events both on homepage and by event date

I'm using Event Calendar 3.2.beta2 with WordPress 2.9.1.

Readers of my blog complained that the events did not receive enough
publicity, so I changed the "Keep Events Separate" setting so that they'd be
included on the homepage and distributed via RSS on the date of their

The downside is that I no longer have a way to list the events in
chronological order by event date. Viewing /category/events/ used to do so
before I changed the setting but no longer does, and URLs such as this don't
seem to work with the new setting:

In all cases I've tried, the result is a listing of events in reverse chron
order by post date, not event date.

Is it possible to have the "Events are Normal Posts" listing and still have
a page where the events are listed chronologically? If so, how? I've seen
some custom code on this mailing list, but I'm enough of a PHP noob to not
know exactly how and where to use it.

My apologies if this question has been asked before (I checked the last four
months of archives and couldn't find it), or if the answer would be obvious
if I had more experience or had RTFM more carefully.
